Welcome to USA

A man got shot, two doors down from us. Shocking, scary, I think the CSI just arrived. After about four ambulances, ten police cars, a firetruck and a whole lot more. Unfortunatly the kids were still awake when the whole event took place, at eight thirty at night.
Well, enough of that.
We know for sure there is no perfect place for us in this small world, no utopia. It hits you hard when you start to realize this, the choices are endless, but every place has it's plusses and minuses.

I had a wonderful weekend in Iceland, my mom is as of yesterday officially fifty. The party was a huge success, after it got all set up and burning a few wires at Sirkus, a full house, live music and endless champagne. Grandmom and all of our family were by far the liveliest crowd, all boogying and going crazy on the dancefloor. I barely made it to three, my mom made it past me.... The next day the festivities continued, had lunch at Jómfrúin, went back to moms to take a peak at all the great presents, then dinner at Oliver. Monday I was beat, it felt funny to go back to N.Y. to chill out.
Strange to be back, feels like I never left. Reginn started school today, Sölva got so upset she couldn't go too, I think she cried five times today. She was also tired from getting up so early and I was too, got up at six this morning.
She has to go to our hood school for a little while, now I'm working out a transfer for her to Regins school, hopefully it's not going to take more then a couple of weeks. This system that they sometimes like to refer to as the puplic school system in N.Y. is by far the worst organized institution I've ever had to deal with, systems and I don't click anyway, but this has been living hell.
Not that this fight will end when they actually are in school, then it's on to getting Regins IEP (individual education plan) and choosing then, his future school. aaarghhh.
I do not know how I could even keep a job in all this, how do working mothers deal with this (or fathers for that matter)?
I feel like we should close this site and write back when our spirits are up again.
Na, I'll try to keep the positive side of me living through all this, I'll try.
peace and love
xoxoxoxo The Ramseys.
